Top Things to Do and Places to Eat in Aruba

If you’re dreaming of turquoise waters, endless sunshine, and a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, Aruba is the destination you’ve been searching for. Whether you’re lounging on a pristine beach or exploring the island’s natural wonders, this Caribbean gem has something for everyone. Let me share the top things to do and places to eat to make your Aruba getaway unforgettable!

Top things to do in Aruba

1. Palm Beach: The Ultimate Beach Day

Aruba is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and Palm Beach is no exception. With the purest white sand and the clearest water you’ll ever lay eyes on, this beach is perfect for a day of lounging, swimming, or hopping onto a catamaran for a relaxing boat ride. The calm, warm waters make it ideal for water sports or simply enjoying the view with a cocktail in hand.

Most of the island’s luxurious resorts are located along this beach, so it’s a great area to stay and enjoy the tropical vibes. If you’re looking for a bit of variety, head to nearby Eagle Beach—a close cousin to Palm Beach, offering the same powdery sand and serene waters.

2. Baby Beach: A Tranquil Gem on the South Side

While Palm Beach and Eagle Beach may steal the spotlight, don’t overlook Baby Beach on the south side of the island. This quiet, less-commercialized beach features crystal-clear waters and soft sand, perfect for a more peaceful, relaxing day by the sea.

However, keep in mind that Baby Beach lacks the amenities of Palm Beach and Eagle Beach, so it’s more suited for those who prefer a quieter, less-crowded environment. Accessing Baby Beach requires a bit more effort, as it’s a bit off the beaten path and is best reached by car. If you’re short on time or don’t have a rental car, it’s probably better to stick to the main resort areas. But if you’re up for a little adventure and want to experience a more secluded beach, Baby Beach is a great spot to relax away from the crowds.

3. Oranjestad: Explore Dutch Charm

No trip to Aruba is complete without a visit to its capital, Oranjestad. The city is a blend of Dutch colonial architecture with vibrant Caribbean colors, making it a delightful place to explore. Stroll through the quaint streets, browse local boutiques, and admire the colorful buildings that give this city its unique charm. There’s plenty of shopping, and the restaurants here will offer you delicious bites while you soak in the culture.

4. Aloe Factory Tour: The Heart of Aruba’s Aloe Industry

A visit to the Aloe Factory is a must! Aruba is famous for its aloe products, and the factory offers an in-depth look at how they create everything from lotions to gels, all made from the purest aloe grown on the island. You’ll be amazed by the process and learn why these products are loved all around the world.

The factory tour is educational, fun, and a great way to pick up a few souvenirs. Aloe vera is a huge part of Aruba’s culture, and you’ll see it in products everywhere you go on the island.

5. Jeep Tour or Dune Buggy Adventure

For an adventurous way to explore the island, take a jeep tour or dune buggy ride! The island’s terrain is incredibly diverse, with volcanic rock landscapes, desert-like plants, and hidden gems that most regular cars can’t access. This thrilling off-road experience will take you to some of the island’s best-kept secrets.

You’ll visit Natural Bridge, a stunning limestone arch that once stood as a symbol of Aruba, California Lighthouse, offering panoramic views of the island, and Arikok National Park, where you’ll find the Conchi Natural Pool—a serene, hidden oasis that is truly a highlight of the trip. It’s the perfect place to take a refreshing dip and bask in the natural beauty of the island.

6. Sip on an Aruba Ariba on a Catamaran Tour

One of the highlights of my trip to Aruba was drinking a signature Aruba Ariba cocktail while sailing on a catamaran! This fruity, rum-based drink is a local favorite and makes the perfect companion to a day on the water. Or if rum is not your thing, try a Balashi or Chill which are two local crisp light beers. I took a catamaran tour from Palm Beach, where we sailed to some of the best snorkeling sites around the island.

The highlight was snorkeling over a WWII shipwreck, which was fascinating and such a unique experience. If snorkeling isn’t your thing, don’t worry—just enjoy the stunning views, the gentle breeze, and the excellent food served on board. The crew provided delicious snacks and drinks, making it the perfect way to unwind and enjoy the island’s beauty from the water.

Best Places to Eat in Aruba: A Foodie’s Guide to the Island’s Best Spots

Aruba has become a culinary hotspot for food lovers, and it’s no surprise why. From upscale dining to casual beachfront eateries, the island is packed with restaurants serving delicious meals that blend local flavors with international influences. If you’re a foodie planning a trip to Aruba, you’ll be in for a treat! Here’s a list of some of the best local spots where we dined and had unforgettable meals:

  • Azzurro’s: Located right on Palm Beach at the Playa Linda Resort, Azzurro’s serves up delicious wood-fired pizzas, pasta, and a fantastic wine selection. It’s perfect for a casual yet intimate dining experience by the beach.
  • Amore Mio: For pizza lovers, Amore Mio offers some of the best Neapolitan-style pizzas I’ve ever had. The thin, crispy crust, fresh ingredients, and authentic flavors make this place a must-try.
  • Eduardo’s Beach Shack: A favorite spot for acai bowls, smoothies, and healthy bites right on Palm Beach. I walked here multiple times from our resort, and each visit was a delight! Their acai bowls are refreshing and the perfect treat after a swim.
  • De Suikertuin: Located in Oranjestad, this Caribbean-Dutch fusion restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind dining experience. The food is bursting with flavor, and their apple strudel is a must-try.
  • Madame Janette: A lively spot with an impressive selection of German beers and an unforgettable almond-crusted grouper. The outdoor patio rustic vibe makes it a fun place for dinner (most of the outdoor dining floor is stone so wear comfortable shoes!).
  • Oak Restaurant & BarOak Restaurant & Bar was our favorite dining experience of the trip. Specializing in Caribbean-inspired flavors and fresh seafood, their Key Lime pie is the best I’ve ever had, and the seafood is incredibly fresh.

Aruba is a place where relaxation and adventure seamlessly blend, offering everything from sun-soaked beaches to thrilling island tours. Whether you’re lounging on Palm Beach, touring the Aloe Factory, or getting your adrenaline pumping on a jeep tour, Aruba is sure to captivate you. And with its exceptional food scene, you’ll never go hungry while exploring this Caribbean paradise!

I hope you enjoy your time in Aruba as much as I did. Let the island’s warmth, beauty, and charm take you on a journey you’ll never forget. Happy travels!
